Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fusilli pasta
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, smashed and chopped
  • 1 lb organic ground beef
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups Rao’s marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2  tsp calabrian chilli (OPTIONAL)
  • 1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese, +more for serving
  • 5-6 fresh basil leaves, chopped for serving

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and make sure to salt the water.
  2. Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat in a dutch oven, add onions and garlic until translucent. Sprinkle in salt & pepper. Combine ground beef and cook halfway then add fresh thyme and Italian seasoning. Continue cooking beef then add beef broth & marinara sauce before turning down to low heat and allow to simmer (10 mins) in order to build flavor. Pour the pasta in the boiling water and cook until al dente. Mix in the calabrian chilli and parmesan in the sauce. Using a slated spoon, move pasta from water straight to the sauce and combine everything. Use some of the pasta water if the sauce is too thick. Salt & pepper to taste.
  3. Transfer the pasta & sauce in a plate and top with basil and parmesan. Enjoy hot!
